Black Men in Uniform - The Untold Story
Documentary, by Emunah La-Paz, United States, 2026.
Pata Seca (1828) was a man whose back bore the marks of his masters’ whips, whose eyes held the haunting memory of being forced to father over 200 enslaved children to sustain his owner’s plantation. Broken yet unyielding men, transformed from laborers into soldiers from the Civil War to Vietnam. The vast number of Black men who served, fought, and died for a country that had repeatedly denied them fundamental rights became an uncomfortable truth America could no longer ignore.
This documentary offers an in-depth exploration of the legacy of slavery and its profound impact on the lives of African Americans in the post-slavery era, with particular focus on the experiences of African American women and their search for freedom through faith. The film provides a personal perspective on the pervasive oppression affecting even the most basic aspects of life.
