Just Like Water
Short film, by Manos Triantafillakis, Greece, 2022.
The film tells the story of the director’s father, Spyros—his life and experiences. He is both the protagonist and the narrator. *Just Like Water* explores the themes of time and the cycle of life. The questions posed are: What is time, and how do we perceive it? Do we truly live the moments of our everyday lives and give them the value they deserve? We are thus taken on a magical journey through time, interwoven with vivid images of Spyros—as a grandfather, a man, a child... A girl and a woman are always there. A patchwork of images, accompanied by an original musical composition meticulously crafted in every detail, weaves together the puzzle of an entire life, set on the island of Crete.

Director’s Statement
A major part of human life is time. It concerns us, it defines us. Everything relates to the flow of time, “Just like water,” combined with a life cycle that repeats endlessly.
Family is another key element along the path of one’s life. The place where one is born and raised. One’s place. One’s homeland. I carry these precious pieces with me to this day—in my mind, in my soul, and on the screen.
