Assassination Orders from Belgrad

Assassination Orders from Belgrad

Documentary, by Dragan Cotic, Germany, 2021.
This documentary film deals with what is probably the longest series of unsolved murders on German soil and a bloody chapter in German-Yugoslav history little known to the German public. Yugoslavia's communist secret service killed at least 78 Croatian exiles worldwide. The youngest victims were only three and nine years old. Most of the murders were committed in the Federal Republic of Germany. However, it was only in 2005 that the judicial authorities in Munich began to consistently investigate these murders and punish those responsible. The documentary follows the children, relatives and friends of the Udba victims, as well as the survivors of the Udba killings, who recount their dramatic and painful experiences and learn about the political and historical context of their fates. The story of Yugoslavian state terrorism is told for the first time from the point of view of the victims.
