Deliver Us From Evil
Drama, thriller, by Nicola Santi Amantini, Italy, 2013.
A former seminarian in crisis hopes that his tormented soul will be able to obtain peace in his native home. Or at least he believes he can deal with the darkest part of himself without barriers. The protagonist is orphaned of his mother, to whom he goes the inexhaustible devotion. He had a relationship with her perhaps too morbid, enough to wear her clothes to remember her.
Lorenzo Berti, co-writer with the director N. Santi Amantini, plays both characters, in an everyday life made up of small obsessions and clashes between the fear of God and the seduction of the demonic. Religious symbols in contrast to the protagonist's masturbation in front of a porn video on the PC. The night of a man who wants his soul back from the devil, enclosed within four walls to fight a self-destructive and individual challenge.
