The Leap of Success

The Leap of Success

Comedy, by Lorenzo Freglio, Italy, 2026.
A multi-million-winning scratch-off lottery ticket turns the lives of a small community upside down. Teresa, the lucky winner, dies shortly after buying the ticket, leaving her daughter Linda with no idea where it may be hidden. With the help of two cheerful companions, Teresa returns to her daughter in a dream after her death. Her greatest wish in life was to build a retirement home and a daycare center for the community—a dream that could now become reality thanks to the mysterious winning ticket. In her dream, Linda promises her mother that she will obtain the necessary building permits from an ambitious and corrupt mayor. She succeeds, and the community is eventually enriched with new public facilities dedicated to Teresa's memory, while the mayor is rewarded with a seat in Parliament. But does Linda receive any of the prize money? And above all, did the winning ticket really exist? A modern Italian-style comedy that explores, with irony and surreal humor, highly topical issues such as death, virtual sex, and opportunism surrounding family inheritances.
