Horror

The genre of horror is one of the oldest: it originates from folklore, religious tradition and the deep fears of the human soul. The main themes of the horror genre are death, the afterlife, evil, the demonic. Monsters, witches, vampires, assassins, werewolves and ghosts. Its most popular subgenres are psychological horror and supernatural horror. In Europe, horror arises from the literature of ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. Euripides, Plutarch and Pliny the Younger were the first writers of the horror genre. Even in the Bible, for example in the Apocalypse, we can find some such elements. The oldest and strongest emotion of humanity is fear, and the oldest and strongest type of fear is fear of the unknown.
